New vehicles in transit
New vehicles are delivered by ship, train and transport truck. During transportation they pick environmental fallout which contaminants the paint.
Poor dealer prep
When dealerships remove the protective plastic lining on new vehicles they leave behind residues. If they happen to catch these residues they often remove them improperly creating scratches and swirls. A lot of new cars will even come from the factory with defects like minor scratches or swirls marks.
